A special trip – London & Paris 2008

I don’t speak the language.  I’m not a big fan of public transportation.  We have two kids that need us to be at home with them.  Aren’t the French rude?  Will I enjoy this at all?

These were the thoughts going through my mind days before a 9 day adventure with Bridget to London and Paris to visit our friends Dan and Darcie, take a break from our day to day life, and explore a part of the world we’ve never been to.

The trip shattered all of my anxieties.  By the end I…

  • Admired Europe’s public transportation.

  • Fell in love with Paris – one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever seen.
  • Successfully navigated several days in a land where I did not speak the langage – largely due to the kindness of the French people.
  • Was eagerly welcomed home by two beautiful boys who survived just fine without us.
  • Was reminded how good of a team Bridget and I make…together.

A much needed break from life that helps bring new perspective to the world and to our lives.  Thanks so much to our friends Dan and Darcie for hosting us for a few days in London and making our trip a lot of fun, and thanks so much to Bridget for having the dream and the motivation to make us see the world.  Now, back to real life, but better off for having taken this journey!  Au revoir!
